Adam Levine hit with ‘sugar bomb’ in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CNN) - In his band’s hit song, “Sugar,” Adam Levine sings about needing “a little sweetness” in his life. He finally got it … or something like that.

The Maroon 5 front man was hit with a “sugar bomb” Wednesday night, said Sgt. Robert Payan of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He was not hurt.

The incident occurred outside the Jimmy Kimmel studio. Levine and fellow band members were exiting the studio and greeting the crowd when a heaping of powdered sugar wafted toward him, according to Laura Tijerina, who was waiting for an autograph.

Sugar spread all over him, including inside his ear, she said.

Levine turned sour.

“It looked like he wanted to fight the guy,” Tijerina said. “I think this guy had it planned. It was a brown bag with tape around it, which was weird. I just saw powder everywhere. It was just so quick.”

Levine’s hit songs include “Sugar,” Moves Like Jagger” and “She Will Be Loved.”

The suspect, who was in his 30s, was tackled by security and arrested. He was taken into custody on suspicion of battery, authorities say.
